Matchmaker, Matchmaker?Make Me a Match, Find Me a Find?
Chappaqua, NY • November 20, 2003
Oh, does Andrea Kimmich have a match for you! Whether your taste leans towards "distinguished elegance," "loads of personality," or "perfection potential" in a home, Ms. Kimmich brings 20 years of creating great partnerships to finding a house you'll love.
"I guess you could say I've always been in the matchmaking business," says Ms. Kimmich, who developed educational programs and curricula, both nationally and internationally, before making the move to real estate at Siderow Kennedy in Chappaqua. The client-centered model she followed started with a person's life-experience and knowledge, and was tailored to his or her perspective. "Matching people with the right house for their needs, lifestyle, and tastes calls for the same sets of skills," says the long-time Manhattan resident, who moved to Ossining with her husband 12 years ago to raise a family.
Ms. Kimmich has experienced first-hand the challenges of making the transition from big city to suburban life. "Entertainment, restaurants, stores, and even neighbors, are no longer conveniently just around the corner. Cars, an expensive nuisance in the city, are mandatory equipment in Westchester," she observes.
Ms. Kimmich also brings with her an international sensibility and multi-lingual capabilities. Raised in southern Germany, she attended high school in Armonk, and went to college in Mexico before completing her graduate studies in education at Columbia University. Her first language is German, but she is also fluent in Spanish. "I'm completely at home with cross-cultural transitions, so whether people are relocating from South America, Europe, or New York City - which has a culture all of its own - I can relate to them," she says.
Ms. Kimmich is not just a specialist in transitions; she is also adept at transforming raw materials into functional art. For many years, her creative outlet has been woodworking. She and her husband, Joseph Keyser, an artisan by profession, bought an old Victorian home on the Ossining riverfront, which they have lovingly restored. "My woodworking experience has given me an appreciation for workmanship and an eye for potential," she says. "I enjoy brainstorming with customers to see how they can rework and remodel spaces to make a house their dream home."
"Andrea is the ideal realtor for clients who are relocating from Manhattan," says Sheila Siderow, President of Siderow Kennedy. "She anticipates their concerns, eases their minds about making a major lifestyle change, and knows which resources are most helpful for newcomers to Westchester."
